In the blink of an eye. Everyone disappears. GONE.
Except for the young. Teens. Middle schoolers. Toddlers. But not one single adult. No teachers, no cops, no doctors, no parents. Just as suddenly, there are no phones, no internet, no television. No way to get help. And no way to figure out what's happened.
Hunger threatens. Bullies rule. A sinister creature lurks. Animals are mutating. And the teens themselves are changing, developing new talents—unimaginable, dangerous, deadly powers—that grow stronger by the day.
It's a terrifying new world. Sides are being chosen, a fight is shaping up. Townies against rich kids. Bullies against the weak. Powerful against powerless. And time is running out: On your birthday, you disappear just like everyone else...
The reason it took me so long to finally read the amazing stuff that is GONE by Michael Grant was because the size was so daunting. It's a big, big, big book, and i was only about 10 when my sister told me that i would really enjoy this book.
The plot sounded too good to be true: a world without adults, a world full of anger and lost souls and...SUPERPOWERS! That's what grabbed my attention. Not only is GONE, and the other books in the series, a dystopian-ish world full of heart-stopping thrill and an enthralling plot, but it's also paranormal, with lava shooting from little girl's hands and lightning from others!
Something about Michael's writing style when he writes action sequences make the action seem realistic and crystal clear! Sometimes i get so lost in all the movements of a heart-pumping fight scene that i can't really absorb what's going on completely, but Michael has a strategy to writing action that makes it engrossing and almost...not quite...poetic...
I loved how Michael doesn't restrict the point of view to a hero or a heroine, he spreads the plot around to good and evil alike, and i LOVED seeing the plot move from both sides of the line! Both villains and heroes alike have depth that is not found in many dystopian paranormal romance adventure books.
Did you get that?
Gone by Michael Grant begins a heart-stopping, shocking, breath-taking, enthralling series that intersects paranormal, dystopian, action, adventure, and romance into a book that, at over 500 pages, is not even CLOSE to being long enough!
